Last Friday (10), the driver Edson Reis unveiled the car with which he will compete in the NASCAR Brazil Sprint Race. The event, held at the Maxon Oil factory in Paraná, was attended by members of the Maxon Oil factory and also featured the presence of Thiago Marques, CEO of NASCAR in Brazil.
Reis spoke to RACING about his return to the tracks after eight months off and also about the new product that the lubricant manufacturer will use in his car:
“I’m going back to compete after the accident there in Rivera,” commented Edson Reis, who had an accident during a TCR South America race in Uruguay in July 2022. “I did some kart training on a simulator and now I’m getting ready to take the wheel of car number 12 in the NASCAR Brazil Sprint Race. And I’m really excited, very confident too, but more than that, I’m really excited to be able to accelerate again, which is something I love, something I’ve learned to love, which is motorsport. The fact that I can keep accelerating is fantastic for me. I’m really, really happy about it.”
Reis also commented on the novelty that Maxon Oil has prepared exclusively for his car: “We’re developing a Max technology, an oil to test in my car. It was a partnership with the folks from NASCAR Brazil and Max. An oil that brings new technology for some tests and in the very near future, this technology will be present in the lubricants to be sold in the national market. I’m sure that a very cool product will come out of there. For the vehicles of people all over Brazil.”
The driver concluded by sharing his expectations for the season: “I get into the car to win races, to be a champion, but I’m very down to earth. I’m going with a lot of caution. As I said, it’s been eight months without being able to accelerate. So I have a bit of apprehension about what the first race after the accident will be like. But I’m sure I’ll overcome that quickly to be fighting for victories in the category, which is actually what I hope to do: have good races, achieve some podiums, and maybe some wins for this year and improve.”
Edson Reis and car number 12 from Maxon Oil will be in action later this month in the opening stage of NASCAR Brazil, which takes place between March 17 and 19 in Goiânia. The competition will have eight stages, concluding in December, also in Goiânia.
