Edson Reis achieves two podiums in the opening of NASCAR Brazil. The driver from Curitiba of car #12, sponsored by Maxon Oil, secured the fifth position on two occasions in the races of the first stage of the competition. The next commitment will be at Interlagos on April 30.

Goiânia (GO) – In his debut in the NASCAR Brazil Sprint Race, Curitiba native Edson Reis achieved two consecutive podium finishes in the two races that opened the category’s season on Sunday at the Ayrton Senna International Autodrome in Goiânia (GO). The driver of car #12, representing the AM class and sponsored by Maxon Oil, secured the fifth position in the first race and duplicated the accomplishment in the final test of the day. With the combined results, he positioned himself sixth in the standings of his division, accumulating 24 points.

“The first experience in NASCAR Brazil concluded successfully. In the second race, I was doing very well, at a fantastic pace. I even fought for the second place in my division, almost breaking into the top 10 in the overall standings. But at that moment, we had a safety car period, and upon resumption, I was hit and ended up spinning, cutting the grass, and breaking the barriers. But I came back with determination and narrowly missed achieving the fourth position, where I battled for fourth place with (Brendon) Zonta (#07),” recounts Edson. “Positive outcome. We secured two P5 finishes, and that’s what matters. The next one will be at Interlagos, and things will get interesting there,” he concludes.

The next stage, the second one in the 2023 category calendar, will take place between April 28th and 30th at the José Carlos Pace International Racetrack, in Interlagos, in the capital city of São Paulo.

Edson Reis competes in the NASCAR Brazil Sprint Race with the sponsorship of Maxon Oil.
